Vacation

The hubby, daughter and I are headed “Up North” – in Michigan that is what we say when we go anywhere, well, north – for the rest of the week. This vacation couldn’t come at a better time.

After an extremely difficult  two weeks managing an infant with the hubby out of the country followed by what revealed itself to be two stessful weeks with the hubby back (I’ve been nursing a headache since he got back in town. hmm….), we both need a b-r-e-a-k.

It’s our 4-year anniversary this week, so we’re taking time off. Our 7-month-old daughter gets to come with us on this anniverary getaway because I’m nursing – though I informed her it is the only time she will join us on our anniversary getaway. But I’m looking forward to the family time, and I think we’ll all enjoy the change of scenery.

And do you want to know a secret? There’s an amazing cookie shop there, and I’ve saved up some cash to indulge. The best part is that I will eat guilt-free – enjoying and savoring the sugary goodness and giving myself a treat.

We’re packing up our farm-share veggies and fresh organic strawberries to take with us – so we won’t get a break from cooking. But I”m hoping to score a local farmer’s market up there to supplement other veggies for yummy summer goodness in a meal.

Adios for a few days – I’m off to a vacation with my family — cookies and kale and all.

  1. so excited about the greens this week and the strwberries too 🙂 I have SO much to esat before next tuesday!!!

And there must be some serious cookie indulging planned if you saved up for it…enjoy the goodness…you deserve it 🙂 Happy Anniversary!
(Do you remember saying last year to Z in your stomach that this would be the one and only anniversary she would spend with you and hubby?? Just thought I would point out the humor there…spoken like a true parent already 🙂 )

  2. My friend in Southern Ohio here at camp had some kale in her fridge–she didn’t know what to do with it. We have already eaten some in a baby spinach salad with strawberries and homemade orange vinegarette, I’m going to pass on the kale chips recipe, as well as possibly chop some up for a stir fry/gomen. Hooray for greens! Happy Anniversary trip–cookies…they sound SO good.
