Whole Living Gal

Raising Healthy Kids Cooking Class {this Saturday!}

I’m teaching a class this Saturday at Trillium Haven Farm called “Raising Healthy Kids.” The class is open to members and non-members of the farm and there are still spaces to sign up!

Here’s the info from the farm newsletter:

COOKING CLASS THIS SATURDAY: “Raising Healthy Kids” with Heather Hammond, Sat. June 10am-1pm

In this class, you’ll develop a philosophy of healthy living and eating, and be given tools to implement this with your family.  Together, we’ll tackle the daunting task of picky eaters, advertising toward kids, fast food, and most importantly, how to translate your farm share into foods your kids will eat & love.  (“The Cleaner Plate Club” cookbook will be part of the curriculum, and be available for sale at the class.)

     Heather Hammond is a health counselor who works with individual clients to inspire and encourage them to live healthier lives by addressing diet and lifestyle.  She also teaches classes and is a freelance writer, working on a book classed “The Holiness of Health: Living a Whole, Healthy Life as an Act of Worship.”

     This year is her fourth season with Trillium. She and her husband David have two daughters: Zora (2 year old) and Daisy (1 year old), who can be seen toddling under the tables and sneaking bites of produce at the Fulton pickups.

     Cooking Classes are $25 per class ($35 for non-members), which includes tastings for “breakfast,” “mid-morning snacks” and a multi-course lunch.  Handouts are provided focusing on pantry-building tips & tools, recipes and local resources.  EMAIL Anja at trilliumhaven@earthlink.net to sign up!
